Spooner Physical Therapy was started in 1990 by Timothy A. Spooner, PT, with a single location in Scottsdale, AZ. Since then the company has expanded to 8 locations across the Valley. Today our company culture emits a high standard of excellence that has helped establish a favorable reputation in the community and amongst industry professionals.
Spooner's History Timeline
May 1990 - Spooner Physical Therapy opens in Scottsdale, AZ, with Tim Spooner as the only treating therapist.
January 1993 - Tim brings a second PT and multiple support staff on board.
March 1994 - A Certified Hand Therapist joins the team, expanding Spooner's services to include hand therapy and custom splinting.
November 1995 - Spooner opens Spooner & Shaft Physical Therapy in Fountain Hills, AZ.
July 1997 - The Scottsdale clinic is relocated to a larger facility.
October 1997 - The 1st Spooner Physical Therapy Annual Charity Golf Tournament raises over $4,000 for a children's charity.
November 1997 - Spooner begins providing Women's Health Services including therapy for incontinence, pre-natal and post-partum problems and post-mastectomy rehabilitation.
March 1998 - Industrial Rehab is added to our list of services.
June 1998 - Swing Reaction, a golf enhancement program begins.
July 1998 - Spooner becomes the official rehab team for the Arizona Thunder Professional Soccer Team.
September 1998 - Spooner holds the 2nd Spooner Physical Therapy Annual Charity Golf Tournament and raises over $7,000 for a children's charity.
February 1999 - Spooner begins the Healthy Kids Club, providing customized exercise programs for children.
March 1999 - "The Next Step" exercise class for joint replacements begins.
October 1999 - The 3rd Spooner Physical Therapy Annual Charity Golf Tournament raises $10,000 for the Marcus House, a shelter for abused children.
November 1999 - Spooner Physical Therapy opens its 3rd clinic on Litchfield Road in Goodyear.
May 2000 - The Spooner Sports Enhancement Program debuts in Scottsdale.
August 2000 - A billing department is created for the centralization of billing and collections for all clinics.
September 2000 - The 4th Spooner Physical Therapy Annual Charity Golf Tournament raises $17,000 for the Marcus House.
January 2001 - Spooner Physical Therapy acquires Mountainside Physical Therapy and renames it Spooner Ahwatukee.
September 2001 - The 5th Spooner Physical Therapy Annual Charity Golf Tournament raises $13,000 for the Marcus House.
March 2002 - The Scottsdale location acquires a 2nd story office for additional treatment space.
May 2002 - Spooner strengthens its brand with a redesigned logo, and launches its first website.
June 2002 - Spooner purchases land for the construction of the new Scottsdale facility.
October 2002 - The 6th Spooner Physical Therapy Annual Charity Golf Tournament raises $18,800 for Marcus House.
June 2003 - The Spooner Physical Therapy Business Center is created to service the accounting, billing, human resources and marketing needs of all locations.
October 2003 - The 7th Spooner Physical Therapy Annual Charity Golf Tournament raises $19,000 for Marcus House.
January 2004 - The Scottsdale clinic relocates to the Pinnacle at Desert Cove.
February 2004 - Aquatic Therapy is added to the list of services provided at the Scottsdale location.
June 2004 - Spooner acquires its 5th location, Phoenix Physical Therapy at 19th Avenue and Indian School.
December 2004 - Spooner opens its 6th clinic, Spooner Desert Ridge at Tatum Blvd. and the 101.
February 2005 - Athletes Xcel opens as a division for sports performance training.
June 2005 - Spooner begins promoting Spooner Hand Therapy as a specialty practice.
October 2005 - Spooner Estrella Physical Therapy opens in the Banner Estrella Medical Plaza.
October 2005 - Spooner is awarded Student Physical Therapy services in the SRC at ASU's main campus in Tempe.
February 2006 - Spooner Ahwatukee relocates to a new larger facility at Pecos Professional Plaza on South 40th Street.
March 2006 - Spooner sponsors Landis Triathlon Racing Team.
September 2007 - Company-wide transition to Electronic Health Records (EHR) begins
January 2008 -- Spooner unveils an all-new company website.
