A Cincinnati native, Mariel's interest in sports medicine stems from her 12-year participation as a competitive figure skater. Upon graduating from Boston University's Athletic Training Program, she began practicing as a certified and licensed athletic trainer in the state of Arizona in 2007. As a full-time graduate student at ATSU, MarieI clinically practiced for two years in the secondary school setting. She currently provides sports health care to the student athletes at Desert Mountain High School, a 5A-1 school. Her areas of interest in research include: health professions education, mild traumatic brain injury, and patient outcomes in the adolescent population.
